Oriental PersimmoN TreE Tips

  • Oriental Persimmons are SO much different than Native Persimmons - the latter are extremely tart and bitter until very soft. If you’ve ever been tricked into tasting one, you know what I mean! Oriental Persimmons are sweet, even when crunchy, like an apple.

  • This is a great fruit tree for any gardener. They rarely need spraying for disease or insects like peaches, pears and apples do.

  • Oriental Persimmons do benefit from staking or trellising - anything to help support the branches when loaded with heavy fruit. The branches can be damaged in high winds.

  • The fruit of Oriental Persimmons begins ripening in October.
